I remember the first time we met.
Your hair was long and brown,
Now it is short and streaked with grey.
Your eyes were green, sharp and intense,
Now they are green dull and dead.
Your skin was young and pink,
Now it is lined with wrinkles and deathly pale.
You looked young and confident walking into college,
Now you look old and unsure of yourself lying helplessly in a hospital bed.
You were nineteen,
Now you are ninety-eight.
The one thing that hasn’t changed since we met?
My love for you.
