Lily was a young girl who had spent her entire life in the hospital bed after being injured in an accident when she was only an infant. Now, the girl is 15 years of age, and she has one dream and one dream only, to fly in the skies and out of the hospital room. To be free and out of the cage she is to call 'home'.

The Beginning

Health. Health. Health. Those were the only words young Lily were ever able to truly understand. The girl had long, blonde hair which had been put over her right shoulder, with hazel eyes reflecting the sunset's view from the window next to the hospital bed. The girl's pale pink lips were parted, watching the beautiful view happening in front of her. Since she was only an infant, people had told her that the world was dangerous for her right now, and so she was always in the bed, or in different rooms performing treatments. Her body was fragile, and she was always terribly ill. The clouds had now blocked her view of the beautiful, multi-coloured sky above her. Oh how she wished she could see the sky from the outside. How she wished she could touch it, and how she wished she could run her fingers along the clouds as she soared. However, she knew from the beginning, she could never hope to do something like that, for it was only a fragment of her imagination. For now, she must have all the tests, all the treatments, done with her. How she hated doing these tests, and how she hated being trapped in such a small room. Once the sunset was down, and the moon had rose up, Lily watched the stars twinkle in the dark sky, once again yearning to someday being able to see a star, for real, and not in some cramped up hospital room. All there was in the hospital were the machines, and everthing else was white, white, white. No colour, not like the world she has seen outside of the window. Not like the world she has read in books long before. ".. I want to go there" That is what she has known, and always will know. She never knew where there was suppose to be, but she knew she had to go somewhere. She had to be somewhere. Anywhere, in fact. Just not here, where she is always isolated from other people.. other than the nurse who tends her and the doctor who runs the tests on her. Tomorrow will be the day of her 15th birthday, the day she vowed that she will be out of the hospital to herself. All she had to do was sleep.. Sleep, and wake up next to her family with a smile on her face. Going to school, meeting friends, being free. Someday, possibly, even flying like she had always wanted to.

Home?

The bright sunrays had hit her face, soon to wake her up due to being fed up with the heat in her eyes. A loud voice was heard below, almost as if scolding her. "Lily! Hurry up and wake up! You have to get ready for school!" Cried the voice from down below. School. School. School. The words that echoed in her head, she never would have been happier in her life. The female soon got out of the bed, rubbing her eyes and looking at the pink device on a nearby desk. Curious, she flipped it open, only to see contacts and messages sent to her through it. She had friends. Friends of her own age, and they all went to school with her. They played with her. Lily was able to reply, looking at the wall and finding a green school uniform with a red ribbon around the collar, and a plaid mini skirt with black, long socks hanging on the door. Clear, straight, clean, a uniform for school. Grabbing it, it only took her a few minutes to change before heading down the stairs to be greeted by her father, who was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper and drinking his cup of coffee with a smile. "Good Morning Lily, do a good job in school again today too." Her father said gently. Lily nodded, smiling oh so happily before entering the kitchen to see her younger brother already at the table. "Hey Sis! You're slow.. I already finished my breakfast." The young male grinned brightly, turning his head back at the television as he awaited his sister to finish her meal. Now, turning to her mother, who was cooking the foods while humming a soft tune, had taken notice to Lily. "Oh Lily! You're awake! We are having pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Your plate is already on the table, so hurry and eat it before it grows cold!" The mother chimed ever so happily, also awaiting for her daughter to eat the breakfast. As Lily had sat down and picked up the knife and fork, there was a sudden knock at the door. The mother had left the kitchen to open it, seeming to have a worried expression. Lily grew concerned, and was just about to dig into her breakfast when, two males barged into the house, and had taken Lily. She closed her eyes, struggling but soon finding herself back on the hospital bed. How? She was just in her house with her family just a few minutes ago. How could she be back at the cursed hospital, and on her 15th birthday? Lights were turned on in the room, almost blinding Lily with the sudden increase in light. The doctor approuched her, holding a needle, and a surgery knife. In a short time, Lily passed out, once again to find herself panting on the hospital bed, in the middle of the night, palms sweating, hair now sticky, and her eyes reflecting the very emotion she had at that moment. Fear.
