I hung myself today

With all of the beliefs I had that have been torn to shreds

I cut my foot
Walking on the shattered remains of what my world used to be

I choked
On all of the lies that have been forced down my throat

I suffocated
Under the weight of all the people trying to help, but don't know how

I fell
From the peak of imagination

And landed
At the feet of reality

So I got back up, and walked along the lonely boulevard to the city of lies.

I tread carefully, I am no longer so trusting
I take each breath
As if it were my last
I count each day
As a celebration on my out of date calendar

Something to plan for, something to remember.
