I sat outside the door of someone; the boy I thought I knew

Outside there waiting for something new

And what I found was a slash of reality

The sound of moaning and crying and agony

I stared at the door in silence, was it real?

Something I’d never known he would feel

“How could this happen?” he asked to himself

Because boys will be boys will be boys will be boys

Discriminate against him as others did other things in the past

As the tears flowed over his face I didn’t have to ask

I knew what he felt and why it was

Because boys will be boys will be boys will be boys

There was something less about him in the end

He had grown from a boy into a man

With another man he stood alone with him

Defending from the horror the world sent to them

And even though the bullies got the best of them

They survived from beginning to end

And now that I witnessed the life of another

I don’t believe that boys should be boys will be boys
