The British Airways flight w7268 continued to drift over the shining sapphire sea. Its grumbling engine powered the enormous jumbo jet through the sky. Inside the cabin the three hundred and seventy two passengers were eating the evening meal. As usual everyone was grumbling about how there was mould in the fruit tub or the toast had been blackened. Up in the cockpit the two pilots could hear all of the passengers’ complaints.  The flight had been a long one from India to the U.S. As the morning came the plane hit a short blast of severe turbulence. The pilots stayed calm and got the plane under control. It was dark in the cockpit with the only light sources being the blinking instruments and the dying sun which was rapidly disappearing for the coming of the night.

Suddenly the plane shook violently and an explosion of light occurred as all the warning lights in the cabin started flashing and the air was blasted with many high pitched whines warning the pilots of multiple dangers. Turbulence had hit with full force with no warning.

“Engine 1 is on fire!” the co-pilot reported

“What the…” shouted the captain as engine 2 exploded.

The plane started rolling on its side and the passengers started to scream as the nose pitched forward going into a dive. With engine one still working the plane started spinning as the push on each side of the wings were unequal.

“Were going into a corkscrew dive” screamed the co-pilot.

The sea rushed up to meet them.

“3…2…1… INPACT!” said the co-pilot.

The windows of the plane went black and the entire set of instrument disappeared but there was no explosion and the passengers had stopped screaming. Suddenly light flooded the cockpit. The side door had opened and a woman was standing there.

“Unlucky, did you enjoy the fight simulation?” she asked

“Yea!” the ex-co-pilot and ex-captain said in unison
