Six months. Six months, it was too long. Six months of lonely diary entries, hour-long skype conversations that ended in tears (from me, mostly). Six months of little distractions to keep myself busy, overspending on outfits that I only wore once. Six months of jealousy because everyone else had their lovers with them. Six months of anger, every time someone cheated on someone else or treated their love ones like they were disposable.

“Why would you do that?!” I’d snapped at the girl who shall remain nameless. Her dyed hair always seemed to exaggerate her mousy roots, and the makeup she wore was much too striking for her skin tones. I called her a friend but I didn’t like her very much. “Why would you ruin what you had with him by sleeping with some stupid drunk guy?”

Or words to that effect.

The girl who definitely isn’t my friend any more ended up screaming at me, but she was only getting cross because she knew I was right. Even if my boyfriend was away for six months, I was still the relationship guru amongst everyone I knew.

I have to admit, six months was a huge test of our relationship. We had rocky weeks, where he would accuse me of meeting new people and going off with them. I, in turn, would forbid him to do even the simplest of things, I think in one instance I told him he wasn’t allowed to smile at any girl he met.

But that will soon all be past tense. Today is the day; his flight returns home, landing at two in the afternoon at Manchester airport. It’s only eleven, but I’m already there, ready and waiting.

I can’t wait to be his princess again.

I won’t let him leave once he’s back. I’ll tie him down if I have to! That’s a joke, I wouldn’t do that, I do believe in free will. I’ve just missed him too much to want to say goodbye again.

I am so excited.
