Washing away the grit and grime of the night, the shower pummels me with its loving spray.
Working the night grind at the local burger joint,
 futile attempt at getting out,
 feebly hoping to make a buck and take a step out into the world on my own, truly my own man.

It’s funny, though, how the mind is;
all these thoughts of freedom, but as my shower at dawn rinses the greay film,
slowly dripping from my body, it seems to wash away the years as well.
As I step out, I find that all I want is to crawl into bed and curl up under the covers, safe, like a little boy.
