About a person who has lived with pain for so long that it has become a part of him. it is his struggle to simply be in a world where he can not be happy

Pain flows through your mind
In corners even you can't find
It flows through your heart and soul
And soon without it you're no longer whole
You reach for things that are not there
Your only hope to never care
They say time makes all wounds disappear
If so, then it's the scars that you must fear
The scars that can never be erased
The scars and feelings they've incased
The never fading memories and haunting regret
Things you can't let go of; things you'll never forget
The things that chain you to your past
The empty oceans before you all to vast
The whispers echoe in the darkness
They tell you you can't fix this mess
The questions you can never answer
A thick black fog; a consuming cancer
A fight you know you cannot win
But one that you will fight again
And still these lingering thoughts remain
Void of color, this ugly stain
A condemned idea; a meaningless reach
One lost shell on the sands of the beach
Hiding behind a mask that protects you
One that can scarce be seen through
But still you keep going
Moving forward and never knowing
Hoping for more than you let youself believe in
Falling and getting up again
Your desire and passion to just be
Through all of this amazes me
