some say way south is better
but in the low country I love the weather
the sun rize on the beach I stand
the only difference is the color of the sand
and the people here are never harsh
nothing beats the smell of the marsh
going fast my boat is sleek
early in the morning heading out the creek
going to catch a bunch of fish by the end of the day
make that cooler fill all the way
take them home clean them real good
my wife will cook em up like I knew she would
sit back and have a cocktail
and tell my friends I caught a whale
sunset my boat I be a rigging
by night fall I'll be a flounder gigging
just like yesterday began
tomarrow I'll do it all over again
on Coosaw island I'll do what I please
just couldn't do that down in the Keys

the smell of the marsh, heading out the creek, Coosaw Island, flounder in the South Carolina Low Country Living ~ sounds like paradise. Some of us here on the Gulf coast of Northwest Florida can relate to those tidal creeks and marshes, as well as the big reds, the mahi, the cobia, the flounder, and dare I say a cast-net full of roe mullet.... excellent salty maritime verse, Captain Mike, a/k/a floatingpoet
