MWP – Chapter 5

I couldn't see his face but I knew he was smiling. "Don't you want to see your sister Charlotte?" I felt his lips moving by my ear.

“Of course I want to see her again.” I remarked as I broke away from his grasp. I turned around quickly. I didn’t feel safe with my back turned to him, as if he was dangerous in some predatory way but I could only see whispers of that predator dancing in his eyes, spread upon his lips which were raised in a smirk, and in the way he held himself, as if he was better than me.

“Then come here and I’ll take you to see her. That is if you trust me. You do trust me don’t you Lilly?” He asked, his eyes holding dangerous depths.

“Uh… I…” I stuttered. How on earth was I meant to trust him? He was a crazy stranger, who believed that he lived on a different plant to earth and that I was supposed to marry him.

“Come on Lilly, all you have to do is take my hand.” He whispered walking closer towards him, his hand reaching out for me to take. Without really thinking about it, I reached out for his hand. When our hands connected, a sharp tingly sensation raced up my arm, leaving it numb. The colors of my world washed away into darkness. The last colors I saw – before I blacked out - were the strange gold of Hunters eyes.

“Well, well, look who’s awake.” Hunter laughed from somewhere on my right. I opened my eyes, and squinted from the bright light above my head. When my eyes adjusted to the lighting of the room, I turned my head in the direction of where Hunter’s voice had came from and felt a chill running down my spine. It was Hunter alright but he looked nothing like he did before. He was tanned, had dark brown hair and had eyes of liquid gold. He was dressed like a prince out of a fairy tale. He had tight black trousers on, with shin high boots, he wore a loose white shirt and a long black hooded cape. I couldn’t suppress the laughter that bubbled out of my lungs.

“You look ridiculous.” I said the laughter still bubbling up and causing me to stop for breath. “What the hell are you where?” I asked, curious at his whole choice in attire. I looked around the room in a daze, still light headed from my laughing fit. This room didn’t look right. Something was off and I couldn’t tell what.

“Where am I?” I asked Hunter since I had an odd sensation that he would know. I sat up and looked at him, waiting for an answer. I could see the smirk spreading out onto his lips.

“Don’t you know lily? You’ve been here before.” He said something dark was unfurling in his eyes, that dark thing that I had seen before and knew how dangerous it was. “What goblin got your tongue priestess?” He asked mockingly, and then quickly added. “I don’t have time to answer your questions lily and you don’t have time to ask them. We have to go to the council meeting, which is starting in five minutes. Lucky for you it’s not too far.” He smirked as he rose from the chair. I quickly got out of the bed I was in and found myself wearing a silky black floor length gown.

“What the hell happened to my clothes?” I growled not expecting an answer but I got one any way.

“They evaporated when we teleported through the realms. Come on priestess we’re going to be late.” Hunter said, grabbing my hand and pulling me in the right direction. We ran through a few hallways before we got to another that ran along the back wall of the place that we were in. The garden was beautiful but Hunter pulled me along again before I could get a good look. It wasn’t too long before we paused before a set of giant double doors.

“Are you ready?” Hunter asked, I thought I saw a flicker of concern in his eyes but it vanished before I could be sure that it was even there in the first place.

“What am I meant to be ready for?” I asked him. He only smiled and shook his head, making me confused once more. He only smiled and shook his head.

"Come on priestess. Let me introduce you to the world that was denied to you." He whispered before he let go off my hand and pushed the doors open. He walked into the large court room stepping out of the shadows of the hallway and into the light of the council room.

"Prince Hunter Zion Noel." I heard a cheer spears out at the mention of Hunter's name, which made me feel as if I was standing upon thin ice. They would either welcome me in a round of cheers or they would shun me and I had the feeling that they would shun me. Hunter turned and I could see him searching the darkness for me, waiting for me to enter into the room. There was a worried crease in between his eyebrows when I hadn't entered into the light. I took a deep breath and took a single step, I was glad that I was wearing flats, as I knew that I would have tripped if I had been wearing heels. I walked into the room, aware of every in the room. There was a round table with thirteen people sitting in high-backed chairs. There were two empty seats next to each other which I assumed was meant for hunter and I, as hunter was making his way towards them.

"Please welcome Priestess Lily Rose Ashmore.” Someone by the door said as I entered into the room. Everyone’s eyes were trained on me; all thirteen sets of eyes. It was daunting in a way and yet thrilling at the same time. I quickly took my seat next to hunter. Not a single one of the faces looked familiar to me.

“You all know why we have come together today. Unfortunately our priestess does not as Hunter failed to inform her.” Hunter gave the man speaking a fierce glare which the man ignored. Everyone else seemed to be ignoring Hunter’s foul mood and I wasn’t going to start caring about some weirdo that I was supposed to marry. “Priestess let us introduce ourselves first before we start this meeting as I’m sure you are curious as to who we are.” And then going around clockwise they introduced themselves with a wave of their gift. There was a Lord for Earth and Fire and a Lady for Wind and Water. There also was a Lady for spirit – and when she used her power it felt as if my soul was flying – and a Lord for Death; and he didn’t use his power as he warned me that doing so could very well kill me and it seemed, that they didn’t want that at all. There was a Lady for East and South and a Lord for North and West. There was the king and queen who said that they represented the centre and there was a young man who claimed him-self to be the commander of the fae warriors but when my eyes meet his I realized that he was much more than that. It was Dave and I had no idea why he was here or why he was calling himself the commander of anything. He was just a normal, human boy or was he? I had thought I was fairly normal myself – well besides the whole mind reading thing which is defiantly not normal – until Hunter had come along and brought me here.

I moved my gaze back to the man whom had been speaking before – who I had learned was the king and therefore Hunter’s father when he had introduced himself – as he had begun speaking again. “Priestess, you have been called here as you were no longer safe in the mortal world. For us to protect you here and as it is custom for our priestess’s you must marry Prince Hunter. Hunter has informed us that you have requested to see your sister and you’re request will be fulfilled as soon as this meeting is over.”

The king opened his mouth again to speak but I guess I’d never know what he was going to say as the double doors slammed open and a beautiful young woman walked in. The shape of her narrow nose, the sharp angles of her cheekbone and the colour of emerald green eyes were all strikingly familiar. My head started to spin and I felt dizzy. I heard the herald announce “Please welcome Lady Charlotte Iris Ashmore betrothed to David Ari Black commander of the fae warriors” before my vision faded to black and I slipped out of consciousness falling into Hunter’s arms once more.
