His face still haunts my dreams, I see him every time I close my eyes.

I can see him lying cold and limp I can still hear the cries.

I remember the sirens, I remember all from that day.

I remember seeing my little brother, watching him get taken away.

I hear my mother’s screams, they are loud and clear.

I see her tear filled eyes, I watch her make-up smear.

I feel her heart break, I feel her lose control.

I promised her he’d be okay, after all it was just a stroll.

I didn’t mean for him to fall, I didn’t mean to let go

It was an accident I swear, but that doesn’t bring him back, no.

He was just a baby, he was only three.

I should have held on tighter, but he let go of me.

He falls into the water, he cannot swim

He screams for his mother, I try to rescue him.

Were finally out of the water, his lips are blue.

He is not breathing, I don’t know what I’m suppose to do.

I cradle him in my arms, I hold him tight and pray.

The men pry him from my arms, the men take him away.

My baby brother is dead, and I’m the one to blame.

People tell me its not my fault, but that doesn’t stop the shame.
