Asleep on the floor, my eyes flutter open

He stands there hopin’

Hoping I’m ready, hoping it’s time.

Hoping he can take me and say, “Now you’re mine”

Looking down at my arms, every sin cut into my skin

Nothing left to believe in.

I look up and see him, my dark angel of black,

Every time he’s promised, and every time he’s been back.

He comes over to me, eyes bright,

His raven wings surround me, feeling just right.

“Come join me,” he whispers, “I’ll take care of you.”

Pressing his forehead to mine, “You know what to do.”

Hair in his face, black as night.

I no longer feel the need to fight.

Looking into his eyes so dark,

I whisper, “I’m ready to bear the mark.”

He nods and kisses my forehead,

Then picks me up and lays me on the bed.

“This will hurt but not for long,

Fear not, I won’t let anything go wrong.”

“I trust you my angel of the night.

And I want this, you, with my entire mite.”

That’s when he pulls out the knife,

That’s when I knew I was giving him my life.

Giving into my fear

I shed a single tear

“Hush now, my angel, all is well.

This will only hurt a spell.”

He tore away my shirt, and carved into my skin

For the pain, oh the pain! I began to cry again.

“Be still and know that I am here, it’ll be over soon.

Be brave my angel with hair of the moon.”

Circles and angelic writing carved into my skin

Never to be the same girl again.

“Close your eyes angel, you’re almost through.

In a minute it’ll be just me and you.”

My eyes flutter open,

I feel my new wings he’s strokin’

Starlight white, my wings I no longer lack,

“Go get your things my Angel Bright, it’s time to pack.”

My wings pull him near, press him against me

“This is where I should forever be.”

Far from my old life we fly, white and black, me and you,

You call out, “And these are the things we’ll forever do.”

True love will always prevail

And such is the tail

Of the Angel of the Night

And his Angel Bright, the color of starlight.
