Summary

A note and a folded flag

I shook and to the floor I sagged

As they handed me your dog tags.

In your army uniform

Six foot deep

In a soldier's peace you sleep.

No more calls

No more letters

You promised this would end better.

No more wines,

No more beers,

Your absence confirms my fears.

No more toothpaste on  the sink

No more dirty boxers on the floor

You're gone, forever more.

A note and a folded flag

I shook and to the floor I sagged

As they handed me your dog tags.

In your army uniform

Six foot deep

In a soldier's peace you sleep.

Your wife now a widow

Carrying your unborn child

I hope she'll be like you; tender yet wild.
