Autumn is gone.
You can smell it in the air, see it in the sunset.
The sky is so clear at night now, the stars hang like crystals.
Snow clings to the sides of the trees, coats their branches.
It's beautiful.
But it's a savage beauty, one I can never get used to.
The cold air cuts through all illusions, all soft comforting lies, and leaves my head too clear.
The trees are bare, also stripped of the shifting colors that breathe life into them.
The world is too simple, simple enough to understand,
and I don't want to.

It's so much harder to blend in in a world of silence and barren ice, it scares me...
