‘I have found the common good,’

Said she.

I asked her what it be.

For time and time again

Has she found the common good.

She stood so tall with a face so pure

And a head as a high as a mountain peak

And said so boldly if she dared

‘I ask you to speak.’

I questioned her then,

For I had naught to say,

But she went ahead and told me to speak anyway.

So I spoke then,

Speaking of nothing more than gossip,

And sat down again.

She looked at me

With a smile so broad and a face so high

And sat down to begin to cry.

I went to console her but said she,

‘They are tears of joy.

For you have spoken and

Now with peace I may be.’
