Dying from within

Poem by: Francis Berryman

Summary

this is a poem about the breaking of the soul. In a way it is a fear of mine, that this should happen to me.

Liberate my heart, my mind,

And break these chains, these ropes that bind,

Remove from me all earthly ties,

Release my soul unto the skies,

For i am tethered, stranded here,

Plagued by hate, and guilt, all year,

My spirit tries so hard to speak,

To gain the freedom that i seek.

~

But i cant leave this world behind,

My soul  once more to be confined,

And troubled by these earthly lies,

This world of hypocrites and spies,

To face the fate that i so fear,

To shed more blood as death draws near,

And so i die, my soul so weak,

As one more tear drips down my cheek.
