O children of Guyana, awake;
Thy country is free, thy home is safe
And now thy nation is ever strong.
Awake from thy dreams of sweet content,
Lift up thine sleepy eyes and behold:
Many many cowards took the flight
As the oppositions trampled dead.
Our leaders like heroes fought for us
While today, victory is retained
In a country where men abroad sought
Golden City of El Dorado.
Hoist our nation’s flag high in the air,
Raise its staff upon the British Main,
Long way it wave over the free land
And may each hand write ‘independence’.
Awake from thy peace retirement,
Awake, awake, be up and doing,
Let peace and honour dwell within thee
And let truth and knowledge guideth thee.

..At lost of words. I love the historical meaning behind the beautifully written poem. If I could, I'd 'like' this a million of times. Ah, you and your endless talent! :)
