GUYANA – MY NATIVE LAND

Amid lands of wonders and places of pleasures,
Between foreign trees with beautiful colours,
‘Tween races of different countries and different tongues,
Across water of strange nations though we may roam,
Be they so pleasant, there’s no place like Guyana,
My own, my native land.

A charm from the blue sky seems to enchant our hearts,
The cool Atlantic breeze refreshes all here,
A feeling from the atmosphere seems to mingle our lives
A love in Guyana seems to arouse our minds,
Which, travel all through the world, are never felt with elsewhere,
But my own native land.

Oh! Give my Guyana, the land if my sires;
An exile from the country, though joy abounds,
A migration from the land, vacation from Guyana,
There will be feelings and desire for Guyana,
The cherished old land of our six different peoples;
My own, my native land.
