A SHORT POEM ABOUT AN INCIDENT IN A COURT ROOM

DEATH WAS NOT THE SUPRISE

SHE COULD NOT BELIEVE HER EYES

DEATH WAS NOT THE SUPRISE

IT WAS THE MAN THAT TOLD THE LIES

IT WAS HIM THAT SHE DESPISED

HOW COULD HE TELL THAT HORRIBLE TALE

WHEN SHE THOUGHT SHE KNEW HIM SO WELL

SHE DIDN'T WANT TO SEND HIM TO JAIL

SHE WANTED TO SEND HIM TO HELL

SHE TOOK OUT HER GUN AND STARTED TO YELL

BUT THE POLICE OFFICERS YELLED BACK

PUT DOWN THE GUN

IT WAS TOO LATE

THE SHOOTING HAD ALREADY BEGUN

WITH BULLETS FLYING LEFT AND RIGHT

SHE WOULD BE THE ONE TO DIE THAT NIGHT
