The Great Trenlin looked around with a great smile on his face. Around him, some technical people - the Great Trenlin had no idea how to call them otherwise - were running around in a near frantic panic. As he sat down in the seat that was assigned to him, he had a strong feeling this was the usual drill before a recording. It was a delightful experience.
The moment the young journalist, Hannah, had walked into his office, the Great Trenlin knew for sure that she would catapult him all the way up the ranks of well-known fortune tellers. Soon, he would finally get his first moments of air-time on one of the most popular shows on television. Just imagine the impact. The Today Show was not just any show. It was well known for its objective portrayal of facts. And sticking to the facts was a core value of the Great Trenlin's activities.
He sighed in great anticipation as he waited for the interview to begin. The business of fortune telling was booming and soon, the Great Trenlin would be the brightest star in its universe, guiding desperate people to their destiny.

Fiona Hemble, the feisty lead reporter of the Today Show walked in with all grace and beauty of a meteor shower. With a dignified nod, she acknowledged the presence of the Great Trenlin and took her seat opposed to him. The Great Trenlin felt a little bit ashamed for being such a mighty and overwhelming presence. He heard one of the producers start the countdown. Moments later, the well known opening tunes of the Today Show filled the studio. The Great Trenlin could not help smiling while miss Hemble, Fiona as he hoped to call her, did the introduction. Very soon, the world would meet the Great Trenlin and would finally see a beacon of light in their troublesome lives.

"... and with us in the studio, we have the man in question, mister Trenlin. Welcome, mister Trenlin."
"Great. The Great Trenlin if you would like. Credit where credit's due. A warm welcome to you as well. I am so happy I could come. I think it is my duty to society, you know. Even from a very early age, I..."
"Mister Trenlin."
"Great Trenlin, if you please," the Great Trenlin responded, slightly annoyed not to be able to continue his story.
"Ok... Great Trenlin. Your interview has generated quite some comments."
"Ah. Yes, it has. I am very glad that fortune telling finally is taken seriously by..."
"In particular, your comments where widely seen as very unfriendly towards women. You are a left-over of a society dominated by men, it is said."
"Come, come... those women are just way too emotional. This is my hypothesis. Nowadays they are, very much against their nature, required to have decent jobs. That probably makes them a bit anxious and insecure. It is something I can help them with quite easily."
For the first time in 20 year as host of the Today Show, Fiona Hemble looked shocked. The Great Trenlin considered the need to apologize for overwhelming her with his presence.
"Mister Trenlin..."
"Great. The Great Trenlin."
"Great Trenlin," Fiona reluctantly recovered, "do I understand it correctly that you do not wish to retract your statements nor regret them?"

For a brief moment, the Great Trenlin thought Fiona was not approving of his views. With a short shrug he dismissed that idea instantly.
"Of course I regret the fact that people call me unfriendly towards woman. Therefore, I decided upon a symbolic action. The first ten women to book a session at my fortune telling company will get one free dishwasher."
"I"m sorry?"
"Yes. To make sure that they do not need to bother their husbands by asking them to help with the dishes."
"Mister Trenlin!"
"Great Trenlin!" The Great Trenlin got a bit annoyed with having to correct his host this often.
"You cannot be serious!"
A chuckle escaped from the Great Trenlin's mouth. Of course he was not.
"Of course not, Fiona my darling, I was joking."
The happy look on Fiona's face could easily be mistaken for pure anger. Luckily, as a fortune teller, the Great Trenlin was not easily deceived.
"Of course I would not give them a dishwasher. That would be inappropriate."
"It would," Fiona Hemble acknowledged.
"I would not want to further lessen their discipline. I will give them a cook book."
"Sorry?"
"Yes. So that they can make sure that dinner is neatly ready when their husbands come home in the evening."

It was a new experience to the Great Trenlin, being strangled by the wires of a microphone. While the crew tried to calm down Fiona Hemble, the Great Trenlin could not help but pondering the huge benefits of wireless devices.
