This is a piece that I entered in a contest. It's being published. Which must mean it's good. Right?

The one thing that always gives emotion; there is one thing that no one really understands: Adoption. Everyone says that they know what it's about. They don't know. You have to experience it to know what it's like.

Sometimes, when you get mad at the world, you say you want to be adopted. Guess what, you're wrong. It's a nightmare. I've gone through it for over a year. It's a lot worse than you think it is.

I'm lucky enough to even be able to stay with my younger brother. I could've been separated from him forever. You don't get a choice. Everything is chosen for you.

Complete strangers become your family. You leave your parents. Never see them again. You feel like you're homesick, lonely, unwanted. I felt like a baby bird falling out of it's nest.

Having to figure out what's going on, what is happening. When you land on the ground, someone you don't even know takes you in, and you live with that family for the rest of your life.

Adoption is a scary thing to go through. There are good outcomes. But there are also bad outcomes. Nobody really understands. I'm not making this up. This is the reality of adoption.

Wow. Just wow.

I really got hit with emotion reading this. I had no clue...I mean, my friend is also adopted but she always smiles and acts like nothing was ever wrong. I can't thank you enough for opening my eyes to this.
Short, sweet, to the point, and not missing out on any chance to be eloquent and heart-wrenching. I'm tearing up , no joke. No wonder it's getting published!
By the way, I've returned from a refreshing summer and I'm ready to get back into my swing of critiquing and writing. Expect something epic from me in the near future. But please post more stuff, I love your writing and it breaks my heart to see how little you've done with your amazing talent and potential.
Probably my one issue with this is, and I know it's personal so that's why I'm letting it slide, you don't give me as the reader enough. I'm sitting here begging, thirsting for more but you cut it off in a beautifully frustrating way.
Keep it up, amigo, and I'll seeya around!

I'm sorry I haven't been on in a while, passwords are hard to remember sometimes. I will get to writing as soon as I can, and will let you know when I have posted again.
