I wrote this during a very wrenching break up. It's loosely based from "The Wooden Birds" single. Enjoy and share the pain. Writing about matchsticks does not make me an arsonist, by the way.

Two Matchsticks [1]

It’s time to say goodbye, lovely

I wish I had my own matchstick

so that I could burn your memory,

all of you, in my mind’s treasury

Because, really, you’re making me sick

I’ll build us a nice wall of one brick,

So between you and me, make it stick

until it breaks after a decent century

It’s time to say goodbye, lovely

I’ll make the fire around your smell flick,

it’s why I’ll need more than one matchstick

for nothing-three months of our anniversary

you only left me a text, not very complimentary.

I forgot-do I know you? Your memory doesn’t click

It’s time to say goodbye, lovely.
