How could you ?

How could you murmur sweet words into my ear,

Then slip away to meet her.

How could you whisper 'I love you'.

Then willingly go into another woman's arms ?

When you kissed me, embraced me,

Were you thinking of her ?

When you held me, comforted me,

Was it just a mere game to you ?

When you turned your back on me,

Did the pair of you laugh at my stupidity ?

Did you mock my love for you ?

Was everything we ever did, every loving movement,

Just a chore to be completed ?

I cannot explain what you did to me,

When I saw you with her.

You both kissing, my heart broke.

Holding each other, my soul ripped open.

I sobbed for you, with burning eyes, I pleaded for it not to be true.

You cried too.

You said it had been a mistake.

A one time thing, you said

It happened in the heat of the moment.

It meant nothing.

But it did to me.

My heart shattered, it snapped into a million pieces,

All of which, broke again.

You left with her, a new love.

An I left with a weeping soul.
