She smiled a lot,
That girl everyone talks about
Laughed a lot too
She was always there to catch your eye
To make you smile
But she never spoke
Never had any friends
She just smiled a lot
She always seemed happy
She could lighten up my day;
Anyone’s day
Her smiles were infectious
Then she stopped coming to school
It was December, snow was falling
On my way too school I would stop,
And look up at her house
No-one would be there
Then I saw her
I was inside my house,
And I just happened to glance outside
I followed her
She walked through the woods,
Over rivers and across fields
Then she stopped
I stopped too
She turned and looked at me,
I took a step back
She wasn’t smiling
She just stood there staring
I backed away
Then ran
I know it sounds silly,
But she always smiled
I wish I had gone back
For that girl, the one that always smiled,
Ran away on Christmas day
And I never saw her smile again.
