Finding yourself

Equilibrium of mind
Clarity of thought
No aim to achieve it
Yet just what I saught
The acceptance of self
Of who you've become
What you've achieved
And what you have done
No way of knowing
What's still to come
Just how you've got there
And where you can run
Relieve yourself
Free your mind
Accept your mistakes
And leave them behind
To dwell on the past
Is to hold yourself back
Just swimming in circles
In the end you will crack
You start to run
Reach where you began
Round in circles
Yet escape it you can
Take a chance
Jump off the top
Launch into the ethers
Become what you're not
If a coward be brave
If brave be smart
If evil be kind
Release all from your heart
No chains bind you
Your will in your own
Free of constraint
No walls round your soul
Get out of the loop
The endless stride
Get back to moving
In a straight line
Push forward, move on
Find out who you are
Explore yourself
Don't hide the bizzare
You can hide certain aspects
The ones you would change
Evil and cruelty
The unearned gains
But what of the others
The ones that you doubt
The odd little whimsy
With those you must bout
Its all part of you
Yourself as a whole
Why should you hide it
Withhold part of your soul
Its just who you are
The way you were born
Hold on tight
And watch yourself dawn

The past is behind us, what did we do wrong?
Pray about it, write about it, sing a sad oh me song!
Tomorrow doesn't look like it's going to be all that bright... what, today was a present, well I'll open it tonight!!!
To late cause I worried about the faults of yesterday,
to late cause I pondered that the future might be grey!
I forgot to unwrap the present that was given to me, called today!
How often we forget that God gave it, not Santa, and we let it slip away!

But the gift we lost has served us well,
We looked long at our past,
Took the time to contemplate,
The mistakes so far we've cast,

Live for today, but don't forget,
The lessons that we've learned,
If we take our pasts for granted,
Its our future that gets burned,
