Indoctrination of our minds

Where are we headed
Where are we going
In which direciton
Is our lifeforce flowing

No way to know
What our future will hold
Where we will be
By the time we are old

Who is to say
What we can or can't do
What path we sould take
What we should choose

The life of a saint
Good will to all men
To never do wrong
Follow rules one through ten

The path of the devil
Always looking for more
More wealth and glory
Gluttony galore

Somehwere between
Not devil nor saint
Avoiding extremes
Playing it safe

neither is wrong
Either is right
Whichever you choose
Certain people will fight

Fight against your decision
Tell you you're wrong
Make out you have failed
Make you follow the throng

But how can they say
How do they know
They have no foreknowlege
They;re just in for the show

We're all the same
Lost in the tide
With no idea
What next we will find

Swimming in circles
looking for more
A greater meaning
A way to the shore

Someone else takes control
Gives us a map
It is hard to deny
The appeal of the fact

But stay calm and considered
See it all as a whole
Ask relevant questions
And you'll soon see the holes

The gaps in the logic
The faults in their minds
The lack of good reason
No evidence you'll find

As oblivious as us
To the meaning of life
No idea what comes
After this strife

They make it up
Feed us their lies
Hope that we follow
And think them devine

Sultry Alice

What you poem is about happens way too often. People letting themselves get led like sheep following becuse they belive the leader is all knowing. Poppycock, you are right, follow your heart not some preacher.

Thank you very much, glad to know that my gibberish isn't completely incomprehensible!
