A tribute to a long dead friend

How could I have been so blind?

I let you get inside my mind

You left me here to die

After you met that other guy

Now all I can do is cry

I gave you my love and I gave you my heart

You know I’ve loved you right from the start

I tried my best to make you happy

But all you did was make me feel crappy

Love is the flower that I tried to grow

There wasn’t much more I could do to show

How much I loved you so

You just seem to come and go

But all I have to say now is “no”

In your mind, I was dead

You just wanted to give him head

Love was the flower, you were the seed

But you’re no longer what I need

More than the flower, you loved his weed

I know you’ll be back, begging me to stay

What you don’t realize is we drifted away

I thought you were a woman, but really you’re a child

Perverted, stupid, selfish, and wild

Don’t come knocking on my door

When he trips you and leaves you lying on the floor

So for now, go on, have fun, go play

Maybe we’ll see each other again some day

“True love does not say, ‘I love you because I need you’. True love says, ‘I need you because I love you”

-Erich Fromm
