How do we decide what to buy? or what is the consumer´s choice in today´s world?. Those questions seem to have direct responses but we must think deeply about them.

Nowadays, we live in a postmodern and consumist world and it is often said that we buy things because we want them and not because we actually need them. Although it is partly true and it reflects the world we are living, we cannot generalise and express that idea in a light way. We do buy things that we need as well as things we don´t, but the replacing tendency leads us to buy compulsively in present time.

The media plays an important role in our choices. They have a huge effect on dictating the latest trends and fashion. Television, internet, radio programmes and all different sources in which we receive information influence our society. We live surrounded by colour, sound, motion, and when we go shopping we are all influenced in some way by it.

Consumer´s choice also switches between the stimulation of what we see from the media, or what we see from other people. Not only advertising has a strong effect, but we are also eager to buy what we see from "stars", imitating dressing behaviours.

Overall, we need to think of the way we buy. Sometimes our desire to have things can lead us to bad financial results in our outcomings. Steaming the tide of the amount of things we buy unneccesarily is quite difficult but at least we need to make sure we are not impulsed by the general way of thinking, like a drifting boat with no directon.
