I saw a name on a gravestone
And I almost cried
Feeling deep sympathy
For the boy who died
Apparently he was young
Little older than five
And I thought for just one second
What it would be like to die
The dates read 2000-2005
And I felt somebody pull me
Into those paining times
The little boy was there, at the wrong time
I ran back through the trees
To the bag leaning on the wall
And out I pulled a flower
To rest by little Paul
I’ve seen too many names on gravestones
Of my family and strangers alike
And I experienced risen emotions
Toward the boy who died on his trike
