A Songbird
a songbird
sits on a branch
beside my window
and reaches out to me
she starts to sing a lullaby
i start to dance
dance beside
the wings of black and blue
"songbird,
why are you here with me?
why are you singing me a lullaby
sitting a tree beside?"
she smiles
her lullaby slowing
and the answer comes like
a flowing river
"ballerina,
have you lost your shoes?
for you are sitting here
in a window crying?"
the sunshine
rising behind hills of green
reaches out behind her
and sings the same song
"songbird,
my shoes are lost,
and it seems that my broken heart
has followed in its footsetps,"
"ballerina,
be not sad,
finding your shoes again
can mend a broken heart,"
"songbird,
you are wise?
have you stood behind a
window also?"
dawn
a moon beside the sun
a couple of the sky
that never seem to break apart
"ballerina,
listen closley,
a songbird knows each pathway
like her wings,
there is nothing on this earth
that i have never known
little ballerina
i lost my shoes once,
and now here i am
singing with my heart and my shoes"
