LONG LIVE THE COMEDY POETRY COLLECTIVE
Comedy Poetry lasted only a short while
Until people realised it wasn’t their style
Joining a collective demanded some reins
Unlimited posting effecting our brains.
A collective it brings all shades of colour
To the genre of verse a touch of valour
It does not negate individual plight
Indeed it’s a funnel straight to your site.
A troupe of poets, like a musical band
Sum of strengths, not solo and bland
A good drummer’s better, understand
When other group members are lending a hand.
Imagine a poem as a two minute song
Extremely tuneful to sing along
Two weeks later, got a bit stale
New air needed to inhale.
It does not matter how good you are
You can only go so far
Poetry we make is good for a laugh
To give it more status is just being daft.
In a selfish mood but not being soft
Better in collective than plain garry croft
Truth is I got one string to my bow
Others are needed, then there’s a show.

Funny and well said. The rhyming and flow are excellent. I especially liked the band analogy. I think you have more than one string on your bow and, if necessary, I think you could be a one man band Garry :)
You are very kind with your comments Patri. I am a one man band at the moment but it was much more exciting when everybody was discussing. My email was cluttered now it is almost asleep...haha.
I go to writers meetings now and have started performing at a few "Open Mikes"....so far so good.
Anyway, glad you still like my work and I promise to delve more into your work.
