The Journey

The river flows along

It does so because it knows of no other business

Our lives too flow along

For we know of no other business

Birth, childhood, youth and dotage

We amble along

At times rushing, at times struggling

But do we stop?

We have no time to stop and think

Where did we come from and where are we headed?

To stop and stare at the wondrous things around us

Is difficult, for we have much to do.

The river must make its way

We too must make our way

Laughing, crying, fretting and fuming

And then reach a point

The point, the place, where we feel tired

We stop to think

We have rushed enough

What are we doing?

Time to reflect, time to think

Enjoy what we have

Remember what we have lost on the way

Ponder over what could have been?

A stage which can be melancholy

A stage which can be fulfilling

A place where we are pensive

A place where we are contented

There has to be a meaning

A meaning in this long journey

Did we do what we wanted?

Or did we like what we got?
