A look into her inner self

I close my eyes tight,

and look deep into my heart.

All is dark, with not a light.

I cannot see; and fall into the night.

Hot red flames leap to catch me—

a scary facade; they don’t bite.

Underneath is its beauty:

a million dancing jewels in its light.

Then they drop me down—I scream

I grab and rip a seam,

fight against the fall..…but it’s not so.

I hit water with a splash;

and am awed by a sunlit prism

in a drop upon my eyelash.

Like a tear, it hangs, teeters—to fall with a bang.

Swept up in a whirlwind, passed hand to hand.

And lose my breath in the symphony,

composed by nature, directed by the wind:

a roaring gust on the beach, a breeze whistling in the grass, a soft sighing through the trees.

With the scream of a thousand winds

it pushes me, ungracefully,

onto grassy ground where

I look upon the silver-sun of the Moon.

Brushing my cheeks with gentle fingers

the grass sways, ethereal in the moonlight.

The crumbly, moist, firm brown earth beneath me

cradles me with a mothers hands.

I close my eyes tight

and look deep into my heart.

I see myself right here;

which I shoulda  seen from the start.
