There are many meanings in this short and sweet poem, but I fear many shall only see the most direct and depressing one.

Cut it down with this knife

The tower of spine, the forests of strife

Tear away the darkness within

Purge the doubts, absolve the sin

Take the first steps towards the end

Fear naught the cliffside, but make it your friend

Fairy of Light

I see more than a depressing meaning. I can see it as dragging yourself away from something thats painful or hard to deal with. Instead of seeing it as actully jumping off a cliff, it could just mean throwing your troubles off the cliffside instead and moving on. I think anyways... :P
