Mother may I?
She asks everyday
Mother may I?
And always hears “nay”
She has become complacent,
It was a stupid question to ask.
She has become complacent,
She once again dons the mask.
Mother may I?
She asks again this time.
Mother may I,
Make his love be mine?
She will not take “nay”
She cries and she shouts,
She will not take “nay”
She must do more than pout.
Mother may I,
Run away from this spot?
Mother may I,
Leave this horrid world of naught?
Because I found a better place,
One where love forever grows.
Because I found a better place,
In his arms, I will go.
