The Plains of Eclisia

By: Genesys

Eclisia: the land of gods and goddess; the land of the borderless plains and endless rivers; the land where magical beasts roam and where magic fill the air; Eclisia my home and refuge.

“Laura wake up!’ yelled my mother from the kitchen, “Time to go to school!”

Great. I hate school; my marks are crap, I have no friends, and in my option the teachers hate me. School SUCKS!

“Coming!” I yelled back down the stairs as I stood up and stared at myself in the mirror.

I was not pretty. That might be one of the reasons I have never had friends and have been teased all the way through school. With my charcoal hair, brown eyes, and small breasts, I was never an attractive subject among the boys.

I dressed swiftly in the first cloths I could get my hands on, grabbed my bag, and rushed downstairs for breakfast.

“Come get your French toast!” My mother chimed in her usual voice.

My mother was a slim lady of short stature. Looking at her you could see from which parent I get my appearance. She has long brown hair tied in a bun and comforting brown eyes which could ease any situation. She is short like I am, and was never the hottest topic among the guys.

“Not French toast again mom. We have it every morning!” I complained as my mother handed me a plate of the stuff. If there is one thing I have learned about my mother over the years it is that she can’t cook. There are a few small things she can whip together, but they are hardly even edible.

“Ok. Thank you.” I said not wanting to upset her. I sat down at the table and began to eat.

“Thanks Laura. I’m glad you decided not to fight with me over breakfast for a change. You and I both know that I am not a good cook, since your father left use, I am the only adult in the house and it is my duty to provide for my child.” My mother said with an air of determination. She picked up my plates as I finish my French toast and brought them to the sink to start the dishes.

“Get going now hum,” she urged me, “You are going to be late for school.” I grabed my school books and shoved them in my bag forgetting to do up the zipper. I rushed to the door and called, “Have a nice day mom. I love you!”

“Good luck at school Laura!” called my mother in reply as I opened the door and walked down the front steps.

Great I thought as walked onto the driveway, it is going to be another one of those mornings. The mornings I was referring to were the one where I didn’t go to school because of the stress is caused me. The only real downfall I found in this was the Guilt. The guild I feel for letting down my mother whose only wish is for me to do well in school.

As I reached the bottom of the driveway, I hid my bag behind the shed as usual, and headed to Central Park.

My house was located on 23rd Street North West, approximately 1 hour from central park.  When I arrived at the Park I headed to the hidden pond; my pond. I removed my shoes and stepped in gingerly.

It was like flying, but I don’t know what that is like. It is like dying, but I also have never experienced that sensation. It is like being born or doing anything that is unimaginable. That is how I would describe this sensation.

Stepping into the pond transferred me across space and time to a different world; to the world of Eclisia.

I arrived at the top of the only hill on the planet. I walk over to were a tent was situated and undressed. I changed into cloths appropriate for the region and exited the ten. As I approached the edge of the hill I took a breath a gazed down upon the enchanting Plains of Eclisia.
