A very short story about true love.

True Love.

The anticipation, the thrill, the almost maddening suspense for it to all begin. You close your eyes, wanting to make the experience as grand and as supreme as possible. With nothing but darkness around you, there comes an all to familiar sound. From that moment on you are lost. Gone off somewhere in a world only you have seen or heard of. There you find peace and happiness as well as overwhelming grief and heart-wrenching sadness.

You sigh as the wind blows through your hair just so and the colors around you appear as you had always imagined them. Something new catches your attention. You are surprised by how important something so small turns out to be. But it’s always like that, isn’t it? The minute details that make something fantastic, glorious.

Everything else in your life is forgotten. All the stress. The mindless dribble and the nonsense drama. Gone.

It’s what you would call a type of heaven. A gate to freedom, some would argue. You smile gently as a ray of sun splashes upon your face. How beautiful simplicity is!

And then, on top of it all, comes a great wave of emotion, casting both light and shadow everywhere. Just when you think you’re heart is about to burst in two from the sheer power of it all, there is an almost frightening silence. This is when you find yourself, very slowly, floating back to earth.

You open your eyes.

The conductor puts down his baton.

And then you remind yourself, ah yes, this is why I LOVE music.
