Five Decades

For five decades life has journeyed on my face

at times alighting for a smile, evading transcendent grace,

reminiscent of fleeting years, insignificant as my goals

 I close my eyes

to find you awhile, love everlasting as my soul.

Say again “another year” and reiterate the dream, anticipate victory with no fear

no despondence in regime –

be acquainted with an aspiration that matured outside of  sense,

for just one day, live that way, believe, achieve extent.

Did determination climb aboard as the journey started anew?

crashing through fiasco, disbelief came into view,

five decades have transpired with consequences that I own

how possibly can time revolutionise ambitions unseen, unknown?

Five decades strike again, for an instance time static in hope

Secrets held in the hub of fate, eager to elope

With every propitious aspirant that assembles in my mind

Another chance to harness destiny arrives with “Auld Lang Syne”.
