Love can be like the New England weather... sometimes sizzling hot, sometimes cloudy and cool and then there are times when a monster storm of a blizzard strikes and changes everything!

A Storm Brewing

by Gerard Lebel

Darkening clouds swirl
as windswept flags unfurl
and tempestuous skies of gray proclaim their debut.

Snowflakes tumbling all around
Mounting rapidly upon frozen ground
blustery conditions now brew for me and you.

You strayed in summer’s blazing heat
Maintaining our love was incomplete
As passion fizzled and flesh had lost its tingle.

You returned in winter to reclaim our past
Assuming my love for you would certainly last
Oh, be gone my weary one… I wish now to be single!
