A Time for Holding On

by Gerard Lebel

A dangling, twisted rope hanging down the side of a cliff as you slip…

The long, lost love of your life…
An overhead handle on the bus…
A friend in the roller coaster car with you…

The leather, handlebar grips on a motorcycle…
The armrests on an airplane seat during take off…

The steering wheel on your car…
Your blind, unproven faith…

A new incredibly passionate heartthrob…
All the "stuff" you’ve collected under your bed and in the attic…
All your yesterdays...

It’s absolutely peculiar, isn’t it?

Sometimes it’s holding on that makes us strong…
Sometimes it’s letting go.
