Cravings

by Gerard Lebel

Our time of tearful
 misfortune has befallen us,
my love, when thou doth no longer
crave thy touch.

So be gone… take thyself
 swiftly and silently into
the darkness of night,
If ’tis not asking too much!

And do not tempt thee
 with thy lips and linger not
for fear of thy sorrow.

Cherish the cravings once we shared;
 for a brighter morn
shall break tomorrow.
