YOU

Night descends, dreams shake and volt the body

You sneak and slide into dreams and grab the lead role.

Eyes prised open, your image dies but lingers within.

You hide in the vaults of my skeleton and await your next move

Seven years gone, your face still fresh as a crisp ice day.

You lie in dormant doors, waiting for an invitation to come forth.

No invitation; you smash down the glass-encased dreams

You know when I’m weak and hit hard, biting, slicing the heart.

Leave, flee from the bones on which you cling.

You left me for dead in the daylight.

But yet hang to my organs now your gone

And crash and bolt into my night.

Washing you off my skin, you run for shelter within

There you lie in wait

And I know you will come again, forced entry

You slither and hiss, waiting for night to descend.
