I left my mind still firing on the side of the road
next to a broken car full of dreams and whiskey
and I swore I'd never be back
If only I weren't so goddamn hungry I
couldn't help myself
I was an ambition junkie and no crutch in this world is enough

She asked if she could take my hunger away

My will dragged me back kicking and screaming against my will
I dismantled the brakes and filled the tank with small pieces of my soul
I was back on the road by noon
If only I weren't so goddamn hungry I
couldn't help myself
I was addicted to the bitumen like an economy

and no future is dark enough to turn off the power now

I told her you and Jesus can do what you will
