Man here stands for all of us.. we are funny! yes we are.. :D

Funny little things

We never always see

Funny little things

We always will be...

It’s funny how man hated pain,

But is never contented with success

He hated shame,

But is always doing mess

It’s funny how man appreciated nature,

But put less effort to nurture

He is a devotee to God the creator,

But his mind is always doubtful

It’s funny how man hated losing,

But never play fair and always complaining

He hated being dictated,

But is a dictator when permitted

It’s funny how man loves his family,

But ends up signing a child’s custody

He likes to go to church,

But believes that display of flesh is art

Funny little things

We never always see

Funny little things

We always will be...

Bill Rayburn

Hi, if 1986 is your birth year, that would make you approx. 26.....wondering about this poem....just some questions.....are you really that cynical about man?.......was your use of "never always" back to back intentional, these are two 'absolute' words....poetry is sometimes best when staying away from absolutes...life is lived mostly in the grey areas...words like nebulous, ambiguity, uncertainty, questioning....those are philosophical ideas that can drive a good poem...not those words specifically, but the concepts behind them....anyway, I'd suggest you keep on writing, always re-read your stuff before posting....and keep an eye on your changing of tenses....it is a problem in this one. Good luck. Bill

thank you very much sir! I appreciate that really.

I wrote the poem because i see people..most of them, they say they love their wife but they end up separated. Some got high salary job and said they were not contented..things like that bothers me a lot..why wont people live simply then they don't have a problem?

I think Bill has done a great job there, so all I would add is that I like the lightness in the way you deal with all these issues. It can be depressing to think about them too much - we have to start with ourselves and maybe let God do the worrying about everyone else. Not always easy though, is it? Well done. :O)

This is cynical, yes, but certainly truthful. That is a jaded view at 26, but at a decade older than you, this is too often true. Really well written.

Although, in theory, I support Bills observations I love the way that you have the courage to be bold and say it as you see it. Nice work, thank you for sharing.

A very well written poem and yes, even poems can be written with 'absolutes'. A job nicely done!
