A Somewhat Stable Peace of Mind

Long ago I tried to find

A somewhat stable peace of mind

But what is there but virtue

And what is there but pain

I wished to taste the only face

Which made me so insane

*

I begged to see the freedom

I dreamt of years before

I sang and belted harmony

And twisted so much more

*

There was nothing in my head

I might as well have just been dead

But what was there was bleeding

And what was there was cold

I needed someone to save me

And someone else to hold

*

I pleaded for the life force

I knew was still around

I yearned to feel something else

And scream another sound

*

Long ago I tried to find

A somewhat stable peace of mind

But nothing there was wholesome

And nothing there was mine

I needed patience in my head

To live in the right time…
