~A Short Story
A She-goat and her Kids, a Lion, and the Jungle
By Godswright Godsworths
A she-goat looks up across the jungle and sees a stretch of green lush grasses. She desires to graze there but spots a lion sleeping on the green lush grasses. She-goat saw a he-goat grazing on patched land and chewing his cud. She-goat uses all her she-goat skills, talents, and intelligence to make he-goat to take her grazing at the green lush grasses across the sleeping lion.
He-goat builds a hiding place so the lion will not hear or notice him and she-goat graze. She-goat grazes with he-goat and gathers all the green lush grasses she needs. They graze for eleven seasons. She-goat produces four kids- a beautiful slender little she-goat and three smart and active small he-goats. He-goat reinforces their hiding place so the lion can not hear or notice she-goat and her four kids graze.
On this twelfth season, she-goat is plump and strong. She complains to billy goat everything he-goat does. She-goat makes ready and gathers all her green lush grasses. She drives away he-goat far into the jungle. "I kicked away he-goat," says she-goat "because he-goat irritates me and he has an odor." "I feel like I'm in a zoo in this one part of the jungle" reasons she-goat waving her hand over the air to show how large the jungle is as she bends her hind limbs and lets out some droppings. So she-goat takes her kids to graze across on the green lush grasses.
On their way, she-goat's kids asks why he-goat will not allow them to graze on the green lush grasses. She-goat replies: "he-goat is not brave and the lion is dead." "He-goat acts like a donkey" complains she-goat as she sways around grazing on the delicious juicy lush green grasses near the sleeping lion. So the kids jump about playing in the jungle, pulling the sleeping lion by the tail, and throwing around dry fat and skinny bones leftover by the sleeping fed lion. Up above a tree a monkey jumps high behind leafy branches not to see the lion awake and hungry. The vultures far and wide gather. Also a hunter and farmer are ready for the season, and so all the other beasts, creatures and actors in the jungle busy for the day and for the coming seasons.
This previous day the kid she-goat was grazing near the sleeping lion and saw the lion's body twitch. The kid she-goat screamed and ran to the she-goat. "Mama, Mama" bleats the kid she-goat, "the dead lion's body moved." "Bahhh ... behhh" laughed the she-goat. "You are very imaginative my dear" says the she-goat to the kid she-goat. "The lion is dead" emphasized the she-goat, "go and graze the farmer is on his way. He will take us to his house and we'll eat sweet human foods."
"Is the farmer the human with the long stick?" queried the big kid he-goat who had come close hearing the scream. "No" replied she-goat. "That is the hunter. He is hunting the lion." "The lion is dead anyway" said the second kid he-goat.
"Well my dears, graze some more and lie down and sleep." The she-goat starts to render a melodious lullaby. In a little while all the kids starts to rub their eyes. "Sleep tonight, for tomorrow we shall graze, make memories and watch the monkeys play" sings the she-goat.
