Katie davies woke up suddenly it was a nightmare that had shoken her from a peaceful night's sleep. She struggled to renember it. The details were very faint, but the young teenager knew it was something to do with her mother. Ther was danger in that dream. Perhaps even a death. It was still dark in the english village bungalow katie struck a match and lit the oil lamp, she took a swig of her water from the bottom of her glass it wasn't to be wasted. She dressed sharply and hurried down to breakfast.

'Penny for your thoughts' her mother said as the worried teenager looked down into her lumpy bowl of cornflakes. Nothing mam she replyed, There's something on your mind. 'What is it?' Without a blink of an eye she quickly replyed 'I have to get to work, mam'. But i want to know whats wrong with you? renember a problem shared is a problem halved. 'Iwill tell you when i get home tonight, mam' katie promised. She grabbed her hats and boots and ran for the bus she worked as hard as she possibily could. But the reality of the dream soon caught up with her and killed her working spirit. As the bus approched the small plastic square like station she prayed and prayed that she would'nt need to tell her mother about the dream.

Finally when she reached homeit seemed if her prayer had come true. Her mother was to busy obbsessing over the hot stove to be worried about katie. Katie's mother said ' I got a rabbit from the butchers today, nearly gone dry in the oven it has." "Sorry Mam" Katie replyed

"Emma's eaten her's". Katie turned and smiled at the small, slim figure with a huge smile and the mostbeautifulblue eyes. "Rabbit pie and a safe house" said Mother

Emma intrupted with a slight frown, "No bomb shelter though." Then silently wisked off to her room. I said as she was going through the hall "We don't need bomb shelters in this country Emma, don't worry Hitler isn't going to waste his bombs on a small village like ours!" Emma didn't look to sure.

Later on that night Emma came rushing through the hall as fast as her little legs could take her. Crying out "GERMAN BOMBER! GERMAN BOMBER!". "Just a Bad dream" Mother said, "NO!" said Emma. Katie turned her head there was a noise of an aircraft engine. "Probably one of the RAF out on patrol" said Katie

"NO!" Emma whined.

"I heard them every night back home with my mam and dad! i know what they sound like!"

She dived under the only piece of shelter the house had The PIANO!.

Katie ran to the kitchen. Her mother followed, There was a bright flash on the mountainside seconds later came the roar of the bomb. The glass rattled in the old frames. "He's coming up from York" she called to her mother. "Dropping his bomb's in the fields so he'll get away faster, Dont worry!". But Katie herself was terrified this was the dream she'd had last night. A second flash hit the valley. Closer this time then a third!. Katie screamed "Mam! under the PIANO!". But mother stayed in the kitchen too terrified to move.

When the bomb hit the house Mother Davies had no chance!

Katie and Emma survived thanks to the piano.

But when Katie woke up much later the hospital informed her of her mothers death.

Katie Looked up to the roof. "Oh God help me in this time of weakness!

I prayed i wouldn't have to tell Mam about the dream, Now i never will...I never can.

Was that your answer to my prayer?
