A short narrative about conditions which called for cold blooded murder.

As I walk through the doorway, I notice the clock says 1:09AM.  At this point, time is completely meaningless.  The mescaline is just starting to reach it’s peak and I have a long night ahead of me.  I empty my pockets which are full of random mostly useless shit and begin to get lost in the visuals.  Still somewhat new to this substance, I’ve been gradually upping my doses since my first trip and loving each experience more and more.  Cactus is gentle in comparison to mushrooms.  When Psilocybin puts my ego in check, it feels like being scolded by a Drill Sergeant.  Mescaline on the other hand, is like having your loving grandmother make you a sandwich and calmly persuade you to get yourself together.

Although loving every second of my confusion, I am at that moment, very confused.  I know I want to turn music on but I am also kind of hungry and I need a cigarette.  I keep forgetting to roll another joint and smoke it… I spend somewhere between two and forty-five minutes standing in the middle of my room weighing my options while mumbling to myself.  This internal dialogue is cut short when I spot a huge hairy eight-legged killing machine marching up the wall.  "Hoe-Lee-Shit!!"  Survival instincts come into play immediately.  No time to waste,  I take off a shoe and move into position.  Every second counts in a situation this dangerous.  I take on the role of Alice, I am now in front of the Jabberwocky holding my vorpal sword(my right shoe).  This spider does not know what he’s started.  I creep up closer and prepare to slay him with a mean backhand swat.  As I am about to destroy this horrible monster in self defense, I am overwhelmed with guilt.

I pause for a second to study my opponent.  He really is beautiful in his own way. One of natures strange creations, I can tell he is good at what he does.  His size leads me to believe that he has been eating well and probably keeping a ton of other pests out of my sight.  I now realize why I haven’t seen any centipedes recently. He seems to be retreating and no longer posing any threat.  I think back to a year ago when I was on a Buddhism kick, what would a buddha do?  Definitely let it go.  Shit I didn't want to kill anything, before this beast scared the hell out of me I was loving everything about life. I decided this was the right decision, live and let live.

The spider then proceeded to make his way towards my Cacti.  Needless to say that punk got his brains splattered all over the wall.  Don’t mess with my plants…… Sissys.
