DULL ROUTINE AND TOTALITARIANISM

Money…

Twenty five for spitting in the middle of the street

A couple more for destroying the sidewalk

Thirty for leaving a smelly pile and peeing near the traffic light

Two more for cursing his stupid neighbor and not being kind

And years…Oh, years

Three to five of probation for unlucky hit and run

Hard labor, six to ten for stalking and killing a tax man

Now that the nice and gentle

Good looking and seriously tall

As the tax collector all was

Had some hush, hush, hidden and by all means secret thing

With the defender’s oh so lovely and generous wife

Didn’t matter at all to the judge

With these cold, unearthly eyes

The cruel, nazi type of law enforcer

With his own complete lack of interest

Corrupted all the way to the core

Sentenced the man showing no feelings

Not even knowing what for
