It is about a general in the civil war and how he is similar to a close relative of mine in the Army Reserve. It once was lyrics to a song I wrote but now I have changed it into a poem, dedicating it to not only these two men, but also to all the brave men and women who went into war throughout history.

Two men so far away,
Yet so close.
A man from the past,
A man of today.
Two men who fight,
For their people,
For their lives,
For their…
What is life?
What is peace?
What is happiness?
These things that the men are fighting for.
What is hate?
What is anger?
What is war?
These things that the world just don’t need…
These men have risked their lives,
Going to the war zone,
And coming back to lead a normal life.
Who’ve seen things unimaginable,
And coming back,
To home,
And pretend nothing has happened…

 So far from engaging in a war to perpetuate slavery, I am rejoiced that Slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interest of the South.
